COMMUNITY SERVICES UNITED WAY 2-1-1 211 is an easy-to-remember three-digit number that provides a unique community information and referral service to people in need of food and shelter, job resources, healthcare, childcare, and other community services. The service is multilingual, offering Hmong, Laotian, Russian, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese translations. Staff and volunteers answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Calls are free and confidential. Information and Referral Specialists are trained to assess callers' needs and direct them to appropriate services, using a statewide database of over 40,000 community resources. All 87 counties in Minnesota have access to the 2-1-1 services. In areas where the three-digit number 2-1-1 is not yet available (including some cell phones), callers may dial 1-800-543-7709 or visit www.211unitedway.org .
